Mock-ups and Seoul finds

Sorry it has been so long since my last post. I have been really busy with work and well I kinda forgot about the blog for a bit. I decided to put up a bunch of pictures in this one that I took from my new korean cell phone. The first set is pictures of the mock-ups that my coworkers and I have been making. These are the projects that the students will make over the summer in the visual art classes. Most of these projects are meant for kids ages 16 months to 4 years. It is kinda crazy that they can eventually come up with this kind of a project.

Besides making mock-ups I have been busy with my classes. My kids will perform their show this coming week. The little ones doing Sound of Music and the older ones doing The Lion King.

I will get a hold of a camera and take some pictures. I am in the process of buying a new camera and I think I am actually going to have to buy it from the states because Canons are pretty expensive here. I have also been starting to say my goodbyes to friends from SFS. This weekend a few of the teachers who have a band had a fairwell concert. They are both returning to Canada with thier families. I ended up staying the night with that lot and then having breakfast, a walk and curry dinner with some of the ladies, one of which is leaving for good after this year. It will be sad to see everyone go. I am very excited though that my friend Madison from college will be coming in two weeks to stay with me for the summer and my sister Renee will be coming in July for a visit.

This summer should be a good time. I will be hot and sticky just like home so I won't be missing Kansas City summers. Madison and I are planning a few trips around the Korea so I hope to explore the contry a bit. There is so much to see and so little time. I will make sure and keep you updated on my escapades.

These last few pictures are of some coworkers, a band I saw in a western bar and a few new friends.

Settling In

It is amazing how comfortable I've become living in Seoul. I am really loving all of the adventures and new experiences. This week I have completed hours and hours of work on mock-ups with the staff, watched funny girl with one of my coworkers, went out for Thai with my old friends from SFS, partied all night long at the Seoul DJ festival, taught a lesson on Anna Deveare Smith with the high schoolers and went to the Korean history museum!

Sweetness. in the words of orphan anne " I think I'm gonna like it here"

Here are a few pictures from the week.

oles oles everywhere

Well it has been quite the week. Work has been going really well, we are starting to get more students! I am also getting used to the toddlers classes as I teach them more.

Other than work I have been running all over the city. I had a long weekend this weekend because of a holiday on Tuesday and this just happened to the weekend for every Ole to come visit. So I was able to go out with 6 or 7 Oles on Friday night including a friend who has been teaching in Shanghai since November. It was really nice to be able to spend some time with people that know my "history" but at the same time I think in that night alone we met people from Finland, Mexico, Germany, China, The Philippines, and Austria. I love how international this city is! Besides hanging out with these guys I met a few friends of friends that were in town this weekend from places like Thailand, China and the States.

I am still in the process of trying to get a cell phone but today I made some progress. I am trying to choose between prepayed or contract. Besides that today I took David, my friend from Shanghai around the city. I was surprised how much we got done in just a day. We went up to the Seoul Tower to look at the view, shopped in Myengdong, walked along a stream in the middle of the city, ate "indian" food in a suspiciously korean/indian resturant, and checked out a few art gallerys. It was nice to have a friend to show around. He even managed to learn a bit of Korean to take back with him to China.

Well this week I am going to try and book my trip to Hong Kong in June as well as land a cell phone. I hope all is well in the states! Hope you all aren't going to crazy with this Swine flu thing. Don't worry I haven't too much about it in Korea.

Until next time!
love
Kristyn
